A rhythm beats an annual scramble.
Because they are produced nine months after the year they describe.
Statutory accounts are a filing obligation, not a management tool. By the time they land, the margin that slipped has slipped for over a year and the decision that would have fixed it is long past. Monthly figures cost little more and arrive while something can still be done.
Closing monthly also makes the work accurate. A payment queried three weeks later gets answered properly; the same question in January gets a guess, and guesses are exactly what make year end expensive and uncertain.
For trades there is a further trap in CIS. Verification missed, the wrong deduction rate applied, returns filed late — each one costs real money, and all of them are avoidable by somebody running the monthly process properly rather than remembering it occasionally.
